5 Mile Hike

Saturday August 20th
(Raindate: 9/24)

Join us for a 5 mile urban hike to Chinatown and the south loop area on Saturday, August 20th (in case of rain or extreme heat – September 24th). We will meet at church at 8 a.m. and then car pool to Chinatown.

From there we will walk to Ping Tom Park, located along the Chicago River, and then go one mile to the Prairie Avenue historical area which includes Chicago’s oldest house. Heading north will take us through a new residential neighborhood to the museum campus area. Then we will go south along the lakefront to the 18th Street pedestrian bridge. Along the way there are beautiful gardens and memorial areas. Once we are back in Chinatown there are many places to eat a late lunch.

A map of the route along with a signup sheet is posted on the bulletin board by the church office. Or you can register by e-mailing Ljs814@aol.com.

Things to bring on the hike: good walking shoes, a water bottle, snack and a camera. Cost – parking fee and lunch.
