Befriender Ministry

Befrienders-MinistryBe-Frienders are trained lay volunteers who provide pastoral care to people in difficult and transitional situations such as illness, loneliness, or loss of a loved one.  They embody the caring presence of God and of the faith community.  Since their role is to care, not cure, the skills Be-Frienders learn in training allow them to respond to any pastoral care need with confidence that they can provide a non-judgemental and compassionate listening presence.

Four persons from Trinity attended a BeFriender Ministry information meeting on June 30 in Elmhurst.  Jacki Bogolia will attend a 4-day Train the Trainer workshop in September. Interested lay volunteers are welcome to participate.  Reduced rates for this workshop are available through August 11.  A separate training for lay volunteers will be held at Trinity in 2014.  Please contact Jacki for more information.
