Big Band Sunday is Here Again!

Back by popular demand – our fourth annual Big Band Sunday!

Big Band Sunday is the largest musical project I do each year.  With the sixteen-piece charts I write and the charts I search and purchase on the internet, I often think I must be crazy to do all of this.  But each year, I do it again because the congregation loves it, and so do I.

Every so often, there is a big band revival featuring Swing or Jump music.  There are a few big bands who do some sacred music, especially Gospel.  But who else plays the sacred swing sound for congregational singing?  If you come to Trinity United Methodist Church on January 22, you can sing four hymns to the sound of Big Band Swing.  It’s a unique experience.

This year, I expanded the band to sixteen players, in order to better cover the published charts:  four trumpets, five saxophones, and four trombones, plus a rhythm section and French horn.  As always, I am playing the electric bass.  I have a great group of players.

So come to Trinity United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 22, for the 10:30 a.m. service.  We are located at 605 W. Golf Road in Mount Prospect, 1/3 mile west of Elmhurst Road (Hwy. 83).  Free parking and child care are available.  There is no admission charge, but the band plays during the free will offering.

Please spread the word to others who may be interested.  I hope to see you then.
