Manna for Dinner

Claude Bjork told me that he had Manna for dinner...and he had it at Boston Market! Of course, he meant he used a restaurant gift-card purchased through the Manna program to purchase his meal. he received the full value of his card, and the Church received 9% of the value of the card in return.

June and I purchase cards for a range of purchases and uses. We consider these purchases as over and above our pledge to the Church. We see it as a way to be faithful in our daily activities. Whether a meal, groceries, books, gasoline - a portion goes to God.

Think Father’s Day, Graduations, Confirmations, Communions, Birthdays, and Weddings!

Now is the time to order Manna Gift Cards for these late May and June events. Orders are due Sunday, May 4th. You can either leave them in our new MannaBox on the counter by the usher’s stand in the narthex before May 4th or bring them to church on this date. Pickup your cards on Sunday, May 18th between 9am – 12pm. I will no longer have a Wednesday pick up date, but you can always call me for other arrangements.

Thank you to all who ordered Manna gift cards in April. We had $7,385.00 in orders for a net profit of $323.50. Total net profit for January through April is $975.70. That’s not much!!! This is an ongoing fundraiser meaning it’s monthly all year long!!!

We’d like to see Manna contribute $6,000.00 to Trinity for 2008. We have a long way to go!!! Please, please consider purchasing at least your groceries, gas, and medications through gift cards. We have Dominicks, Jewel, Garden Fresh, Walgreens, CVS, BP, Shell, Mobil, Speedway, Marathon and many, many more vendors. ORDERING IS PAINLESS. It doesn’t cost any extra money than what you would spend at the store and it helps support our congregation.

WELCOME TO MANNA – a great way to support Trinity by purchasing gift cards to give as gifts or to use yourself. We have over one hundred vendors to choose from.

All orders will be due the first Sunday of the month. NO EXCEPTIONS. Cards can be picked up the second Wednesday of the month at Trinity from 7 - 9pm; the third Sunday, from 9am - 12pm, or call me to make other arrangements. Pick up is Sunday or call only.)

Instructions  for filling out order form

  1. Choose the items and quantities you want to purchase. Multiply the quantities by the dollar value of the card you want. This is the amount you owe for that item.
    For example:
    You want 2 - $25.00 Dominick’s cards. Your total owed would be $50.00. The discount does not apply to you. It is the amount Manna will give Trinity on your order. Do this for all of the items you want to order.
  2. Total all items per column and enter in the subtotal and total boxes on the  bottom of the form.
  3. Write a check for the total amount payable to:
    Trinity United Methodist Church
  4. Attach the check to the order form.
  5. Make sure you fill out your name, phone number and email address on the top of the form.
  6. Absolute due date is the first Sunday of the month. Either:
    1. Bring your order and check to church. I’ll be there between services and after the 10:30am service to collect them. If you don't see me there, you can drop them into our new secure Manna Box in the Narthex.
    2. Mail it to me at the address on the  order form. Allow that it has to reach me by the first Sunday of the month.
    3. Drop it off at my house. There will be an envelope between my doors.
  7. Pick up your order at church on the second Sunday of the month from 9am – 12pm, or call me for other arrangements.
  8. Please call or email me if you have any questions or suggestions.

Very important note:  ORDERS CANNOT BE LEFT IN THE CHURCH OFFICE OR PUT INTO THE SUNDAY OFFERING. Nancy, Lillian and counters have instructions not to accept your order. It is important that I receive them. I do not want to lose any checks.

Please make sure I have a phone number and email address. I will be emailing a notice of what ordersI received by the first Wednesday of the month. If you do not have email, please call me to make sure I received your order.
