Stained Glass

We are blessed with beautiful stained glass windows in our sanctuary. Have you ever looked up and wondered what they are about or what symbols depict which part of the story of Christ. This page is dedicated to that story.
Faceted glass windows for Trinity United Methodist Church were designed by Willet Stained Glass Studios of Philadelphia, PA. This relatively new technique of window design is one which harmonizes with contemporary styles of architecture.
E. Crosby Willet, president of the studio describes the process thus: "Brilliantly colored glass, usually an inch in thickness but up to two or more inches for special effects, is cut into the desired size. The inner surface of certain pieces is then chipped or faceted conchoidally to enhance the design and add a jewel-like quality. The epoxy matrix is poured around the carefully arranged pieces of glass and holds them in place to form a structural unit of great strength. It is the thickness of the glass which assures the breath-taking radiance and complete purity of color which are the outstanding characteristics of the medium."
Working from design suggestions provided by Trinity's Worship and Sanctuary Planning Committee, the Willet Studio prepared the detailed designs for our beautiful windows.

The windows on the west side of the nave symbolize themes of the church's tradition and correspond to seasons of the Christian year. Plaques briefly describing each of the windows were recently installed.
