Thanks to God’s faithful people, we made it!

Fnancial Ministerial SupportI would like to begin the new year of 2013 with my grateful thanks to all of the members and friends of Trinity United Methodist Church for your outstanding support of the ministries of your Church in 2012. I don’t often see a Treasurer smile. Jerry Askeland was smiling.

Not only did we finish the year with all obligations met, including our apportionments at 100%, but we also have a positive balance in our checking account and our reserves are intact, so that we can have a strong beginning to the new year. Thank you for your faithful support.

We also had a very good offering on the first Sunday in January. As you keep up your faithful support into 2013, we can anticipate being able to meet all of our ministry goals.

At present, in our “Thankful Giving” pledge campaign, we have received 88 pledges totaling $282,881 in support committed for the new year. There are still a number of people that we have not heard from.

If you have not yet submitted you pledge and intend to do so, please know that it is not too late. We will be happy to receive your pledge. It is not unusual for us to receive pledges into the first two months of the new year.

When John Wesley went to Georgia, he held worship in a “wattle and daub” building. Wattle and daub is a construction where mud is spread over a lattice type of frame work to provide cover. The next time you are in worship in our beautiful sanctuary, consider the places that Christians have met (and in many places still meet) that are so much less pleasant, and give thanks that we are in a warm, dry, beautiful place to praise our God.

God bless you all.
