Sunday Worship Celebrations

We have a diverse congregation at Trinity Church, and different groups have their core worship needs met through our various worship service styles.

8:10 AM - in the Narthex

This service is a blend of both contemporary and traditional worship styles.

10:30 AM - in the Sanctuary

Our 10:30 service is a traditional Methodist service that appeals to worshippers who prefer a mainline denominational worship style. The Chancel choir provides special music each week.

The Sanctuary: Dedicated in 1972, Trinity's 350-seat sanctuary was designed as a place of beauty to lift the human spirit. Warm tones of woods, the majestic height of the 13 beams sweeping upward, the vivid colors of the stained glass windows and worship banners all create an environment that invokes the presence of God in the hearts of worshippers. Rich symbolism throughout the sanctuary visually draws attention to the truths of our Christian faith and life. The congregation receives communion at both services on the first Sunday of the month. Everyone who wishes to take communion is welcome to participate. The communion is non-alcoholic.

Following the services, the pastors will be in the narthex to greet you.

Large print bulletins are always available.

We'd love to answer your questions and show you our beautiful church home.

Choir Programs:

Chancel Choir: The choir provides service music and anthems during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday celebration at Trinity's sanctuary.

Rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. Reading music is helpful, but not required.

Bell Choir: This choir provides special music monthly during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday celebration at Trinity's sanctuary.

Rehearsals are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m.

Children's Choir: This choir is open to all children in the Trinity community. They perform several times a year during the 10:30 a.m. celebration exploring diverse and fun literature. If your child is interested in this exciting program, contact the church office.

Childcare:

Childcare is provided for both Trinity's worship services in our state-of-the-art nursery area, located on the ground floor - just a few steps away from where persons are in worship. However, children are certainly welcome to remain in the worship service celebrations.

Our infant nursery is staffed by an adult care giver beginning at 9:00 a.m. This nursery has a carpeted floor. It is equipped with cribs and a changing table. We also have selected age- appropriate toys.

Our toddler nursery normally is staffed with a paid staff person and a number of volunteers who are experienced in caring for the needs of youngsters. Please let us know of any special needs for your child.

Taize Worship

Do you love Jesus?

by April Patek

In John 21, Jesus appears to the Disciples and in a conversation to Simon Peter, he asks him three times, “Do you love me?” And when Peter responds positively, Jesus gives him three commands. 1) Feed my lambs. 2) Tend my sheep. 3) Feed my sheep. How would you respond to Jesus’ question, “Do you love me?” How would you carry out these three commands? This was the focus of the Taize service on Friday, April 4 (this was the service that was rescheduled from Good Friday). After much meditation, prayer, listening and singing, there was an opportunity for those in attendance to reflect on these commands. There answers were anonymously written down and were collected.

Here are some of their thoughts. Provide a positive role model and support education of Trinity’s children. Serve without complaining to God’s children in Mt. Prospect and the world. Smile. Have a kind word. Be a good neighbor. Understand your coworker. Help in whatever way is needed. Support the church with attendance and gifts. Provide for your family. Testify about God’s love. Feed the hungry. Help the needy. Shelter the homeless. Read my Bible. Pray for sick, homeless, country, troops, leaders, Trinity’s outreach. Recognize others. Live a life as an example of Jesus and do as Peter did.

This is a wonderful start. How can you feed God’s sheep? Be specific and be realistic. Pray about it and live it.

I invite you to take part in future Taize services. It was such a wonderful success and I heard such great comments from all in attendance. I could give you all the reasons why I think this service will touch you, but instead here is what someone else wrote down. Thank you for a wonderful service. Sunday is so fractured and busy that there is no time to feed my soul.
