Rev. Sam Park, Senior Pastor
Rev. Sam SangMyung Park brings a heart for inclusive ministry and a deep commitment to “sharing the light of God”—a mission reflected in his middle name, SangMyung. Originally from Jeju, South Korea, Rev. Park’s journey has been defined by a call to bridge personal piety with social holiness, ensuring that the church is a sanctuary for all, where no one is excluded or marginalized.
An Ordained Elder in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church, Rev. Park has spent over 17 years leading congregations with passionate joy and creative energy. His approach to ministry is shaped by:
- Diverse Education: Degrees from Hansei University (Th.B), McCormick Theological Seminary (M.Div), and specialized training in Pastoral Care from the University of Illinois Medical Center and School of Congregational Development.
- Compassionate Leadership: A focus on pastoral care, visionary leadership, and inspirational preaching.
- Inclusive Faith: A dedication to opening church doors to all people, reflecting a God who loves everyone “no matter what.”
Rev. Park is thrilled to serve Trinity United Methodist Church and invites all to join in sharing the hopeful love and joyful service found in the grace of Jesus Christ.

Office Administrator
Lise Renne, (e.g. Lisa: lee / suh), Director of Administration
Lise serves as the central hub of communication and day-to-day coordination for the life of the church, often the first voice you hear when you call and the first face you see when you visit the office. She helps ministries, committees, and volunteers stay organized and supported.
She also designs church communications and marketing materials, is a resource for event planning and worship arts, is a liaison between Trustees and vendors, and manages building use partnerships.
Growing up at Aldersgate UMC in southern Indiana—where her mom was church organist and later became an ordained minister—Lise learned early the routines of church life and the lasting fruit that comes from it all. Trinity feels like home to her and considers it a privilege to walk alongside the congregation in growing together and serving with purpose.
An Indiana University alum, Lise built a sales and marketing career in cable television network affiliate relations, association management and business development for a local marketing firm. She also owned two franchises (Mother’s Helpers Chicago and Kindermusik by Lise). When she’s not working at Trinity, you’ll find her enjoying her family, training a new rescue dog (Rio), finding a peace through yoga, and learning new fiddle tunes.

Tom North, Youth Director
GROWING UP IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS – I moved to Arlington Heights at age 3 from Jesup, Iowa. We lived on the north side of town until I entered fourth grade, when we moved to 513 S. Dunton… where I currently reside. I attended Arlington High School, playing four sports and participating in student government, musical theater and speech competitions. I went to college nearby, attending Northwestern University on a football scholarship and graduating with a degree in mathematics. I also received my MBA from the University of Chicago.
Professional Experience – Some would say that I am a jack of many trades, master of none! Out of Northwestern, I worked for IBM in Chicago. After earning my MBA, I was a product manager for General Mills, working on layer cakes (Betty Crocker) and main meals (Hamburger Helper). I was also a VP for a rug manufacturer in central Indiana, an HR director for Cummins Engine and MANY positions at the Atterbury Job Corp Center, which lead to my move into education. A high school math teacher for over 10 years, I supported many of the same activities that I participated in during high school – coaching two sports and sponsoring student government, plays and musicals and math competitions.. My time as a teacher drew to a close, but I still tutor math to this day. More recently, I have driven for Uber, been a Merchandiser at Lowes and became a licensed phlebotomist. And today, I earn my spending money leading walking tours downtown Chicago.
Church Experience – I was confirmed at Church of the Incarnation, United Methodist right here in Arlington Heights. While we were in Minnesota, we attended Pilgrim United Methodist Church. I was both a Sunday School teacher and treasurer there. When we moved to Indiana, our home church was Asbury United Methodist. It is here that I gained experience as a Youth Director and Cub Scout leader. I enjoyed the service, fund raising and mission projects that we did at Asbury and I hope to share them at Trinity. On my way back to Chicago, I had a brief stop (2 years) in Gilman, IL, where I attended the Gilman United Methodist Church. Since returning to Arlington Heights, I had been attending Southminster Presbyterian Church, where my parents are members. And now I have found Trinity United Methodist Church!

Tyrone H. Mitchell, Sr., Director of Music Ministries
Ty has been conducting church choirs since the age of 12. He also has many years of experience conducting over 250 voice choirs for television, the Medina Temple, Orchestra Hall, and the Civic Opera House.
His passion and zeal for conducting choirs and instrumentalists, as well as his own vocal solo performances, is heartfelt, spiritual and fun. Under his leadership the size of the choir at Trinity has grown, partly due to his creative, interpretive musical style and his strong spiritual faith. The congregation is blessed to the heavens by his music ministry. He received a bachelor’s degree from Roosevelt University where he studied Choral Conducting. Roosevelt was a wonderful institution to embellish and fine-tune his gift of conducting. He has been Director of Music Ministries at Trinity since August, 2007.
