United Women in Faith Reading Program

This is the busy time of year for the Reading Program.  First, the list of readings done over the past year are due by Sunday, December 7.  The date of certificate presentations is to be determined.

The new list of books for 2026 is in the November/December issue of Response (click here). I will have a copy at church next Sunday.  This is to show your interest in particular books for the 2026 Program.  Youth and Children Books are included.  PLEASE put your name on a blank sheet of paper with your choices.  Keep the list so you can get favorite books elsewhere if not bought by UWIF.  Hand the list of favorites to me or put it in my mailbox in the office. Thank you! Linda Askeland

Youth Group 11/23

The food collected by the youth at last week’s meeting will be a blessing to those in need.  Our Sunday night meeting focused on the devotion and sacrifice we make as Christians to fulfill our commitments and walk with Christ.

At this week’s meeting, we will all share pictures of people that we love and try to see connections between these loving relationships and building a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Thank you to those who have reached out to fulfill our two-deep leadership requirement for youth activities.

Future events to put on the calendar.
     – Saturday, 12/6          Cookie and Craft Fair
     – Sunday, 12/14           Chili Contest
     – Sunday, 1/11             Chicago Wolves game
     – Saturday, 1/24           Community Service project

Emergency Solidarity Fund

In these difficult days, it has become increasingly dangerous for our Hispanic/Latine neighbors to leave their homes—including for work, which results in lost pay; to take children to their school bus stops; to shop for groceries; and to attend worship services.

To provide some relief, Bishop Schwerin has established an Emergency Solidarity Fund. It will assist primarily Hispanic/Latine people (but also other immigrants) who are increasingly vulnerable. Gifts from this fund will help people with whom our churches directly minister and those in our towns and neighborhoods. https://www.umcnic.org/SolidarityFund

Offering plate (or online – link above) giving with a note that it is for the Bishop’s Emergency Solidarity Fund will also work.  Thank you for your consideration.
